Rangers could face competition from Spain as they hope to snare Davide Ancelotti as the club’s new manager.

Reports have suggested that Rangers have made Ancelotti their preferred choice to take over at Ibrox following the departure of Barry Ferguson.

But it’s been clear throughout the process that Rangers are not the only ones interested in Davide Ancelotti, who has just left the Real Madrid coaching team this summer.

With Steven Gerrard pulling out of the Rangers running, the situation with Ancelotti has taken a fresh twist amid reports of interest from Spain.

Davide Ancelotti wanted in Spain

Estadio Deportivo are reporting that Davide Ancelotti is on the managerial shortlist of Liga Segunda outfit Deportivo La Coruna.

It’s reported that Ancelotti is one of four names on the Deportivo La Coruna shortlist, with Antonio Hidalgo, Luis Carrión and Alessio Lisci also being considered.

Caretaker manager Óscar Gilsanz is also under consideration at Deportivo after taking over from Imanol Idiakez back in November.

Deportivo La Coruna are one of Spanish football’s fallen giants but given the club’s status in the country’s second tier, would represent a sizeable step down from Rangers.
