Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is facing a big selection dilemma at the top end of the pitch ahead of Sunday’s clash with Celtic in the Premiership.
The title was wrapped up a long time ago but the Gers’ unbeaten record is on the line and there’s a chance to claim a fourth victory of the season over their biggest rivals.
Two of the three main attacking roles are set to be occupied by Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos.
Kent has been a near ever-present on the left this season, has a combined 25 goals and assists to his name and was electric in the last Old Firm, while Morelos broke his derby day duck last month and is still very much the club’s best number 9.
The right inside forward berth is where Gerrard’s dilemma lies, though, with three players vying for selection, assuming that Joe Aribo is deployed in midfield.
Ianis Hagi started the last Premiership Old Firm there and has racked up impressive numbers this season, with seven goals and 12 assists in all competitions.
However, the Romania international has been out of favour recently, and only started one of the Gers’ five April fixtures.
Kemar Roofe is a second option for the manager.
Earlier in the season, Roofe was producing the kind of performances that meant if he was fit, he was in the side.
The former Leeds United and Anderlecht star made a big contribution to 55 with ten league goals and three assists, but he’s struggled with injuries and has looked off the pace in recent times.
Scott Wright is the final option at Gerrard’s disposal and he’s a player plenty of supporters want to see handed a first Old Firm start.
Wright has impressed fans with his lively performances since joining from Aberdeen in the winter transfer window.
Most of his outings to date have come as a substitute, but given that he’s looked so hungry and dangerous in the final third while others have lost form, he’s pushing to be included in the team.
