According to multiple reports, Rangers are eyeing SC Heerenveen midfielder Joey Veerman.
Voetbal International reported on Wednesday afternoon that the Gers are following Veerman closely, while the Scottish Sun followed up on Wednesday night, saying that the Glasgow club are ‘in the hunt’ for the 22-year-old, who they expect to cost upwards of £5m.

Amongst the other clubs credited with interest across the reports are Stade Reims, Atalanta, Southampton, Ajax and PSV Eindhoven.
It’s unsurprising that a substantial transfer fee is being predicted, given that the playmaker is young, under contract until 2024 and has produced excellent numbers so far this season.
He has nine goals and ten assists to his name across all competitions, with the majority of his contributions coming in the Eredivisie.
Heerenveen are tenth in the Dutch top flight with four fixtures remaining in their season and it looks as though they could be Veerman’s last at the club.
However, in a possible blow for Rangers, the Voetbal International report claims that he wants to play for a top Dutch club.

The 6ft 1″ midfielder is an exciting talent and the Gers do need to add to their midfield in the summer window.
Bongani Zungu is likely to return to parent club Amiens at the end of the season and Ryan Jack’s injury problems have left Steven Gerrard short of options at times this season.
Although Nnamdi Ofoborh is joining from Bournemouth, he’s currently not featuring on loan at Wycombe Wanderers and more established players will be needed to beef up what is a key area.
Veerman’s numbers are encouraging and he has plenty of senior experience for his age, but it remains to be seen whether or not Rangers can beat off the seemingly substantial competition for his signature.
In other news, a rapid reported Rangers target reportedly underwent a medical at an EFL Championship club on Wednesday.
