Recent reports suggest that Rangers might have to move on from Cyriel Dessers and Luis Palma, in Benie Traore, Michael Beale might have found the answer.

Linked with both sides of the Old Firm – which can be a red flag – the 20-year old has been on fire in Sweden this season.

After breaking Rangers interest, Alan Nixon has now revealed on Twitter that the main driver behind the interest in Benie Traore is Michael Beale.

With Ross Wilson departed, the Gers gaffer is firmly the man in charge of the summer’s recruitment.

Obviously, he will have help from John Park and his recruitment team but the manager will have the final say, as he always should.

Rangers need for a striker has seen Benie Traore become Michael Beale’s target

Replying to a fan on Twitter, Nixon suggested that Traore might not be available for long and that Rangers are reportedly targeting Bernie Traore because of Michael Beale.

When asked if Rangers might make an offer, The Sun journalist replied:

“Going to have to….Beale is genuinely keen.”

With a goal or an assist every game for Hacken, the Ivory Coast youth international is certainly posting the sort of numbers that would get Rangers fans excited.

Similar to Alfredo Morelos, Traore travelled to Europe at a young age and will be highly motivated to reach as high a level as possible.

The fee quoted of £4m is similar to what has been mentioned for previous targets and for Sam Lammers but there are two major differences.

Traore is in red-hot form and is young enough that any initial outlay could easily be made back in the future.

If there are any doubts about trusting a player so young to lead the line for Rangers, it doesn’t take long to make a compelling argument.

Celtic had Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard as teenagers whilst Rangers had Alfredo Morelos as a 21-year old and Kenny Miller at a similarly young age.

Experience is one thing, and Michael Beale will still have that with Kemar Roofe and Antonio Colak maybe around, but there is a lot to be said for the fearlessness of youth and sky-high confidence in a hungry to improve striker.
