Rangers are interested in signing BK Hacken striker Benie Traore but could lose out to Old Firm rivals Celtic.

That is according to a report from The Sun’s Alan Nixon, who claim that Rangers have been looking at Traore.

However, it’s also stated that Celtic are now trying to do a quick deal to sign Traore.

It’s claimed that English clubs may join the race for Traore after rules on foreign players were relaxed.

Celtic are trying to get in there and do a deal now having ramped up their interest in recent weeks.

Swedish side BK Hacken are seeking around £4million for Traore, which Celtic may be willing to pay.

Rangers may need to get a move on if they want to win this race with Michael Beale seeking attacking options.

Missing out on Traore would be one thing, but seeing him line up against the Gers in Old Firm derbies would be hard to swallow.

Who is Rangers target Benie Traore?

Traore came up through the ranks with ASEC Mimosas in his native Ivory Coast.

ASEC Mimosas are a major club when it comes to developing talent and sending them to Europe.

The likes of Yaya Toure, Kolo Toure, Salomon Kalou, Bonaventure Kalou, Emmanuel Eboue, Gervinho and Jean Michael Seri have all come through with ASEC Mimosas.

Traore was sent off to Sweden in February 2021 as Hacken pounced to sign him early.

The attacker has been a sensation, scoring 15 goals in his last 19 games for Hacken.

Traore’s total record for Hacken now stands at 24 goals and eight assists in 56 games.

Traore can play up front or out wide and will surely earn Ivory Coast caps in the near future.

The 20-year-old has taken Swedish football by storm and will surely make a big move very soon.

Rangers would surely love to add Traore as a versatile attacking threat for Michael Beale, but there is a real chance he instead ends up on the other side of Glasgow.
