Rangers are reportedly battling it out with Manchester City for the signing of Kilmarnock youth striker Liam Smith.
According to the Scottish Sun, Rangers will compete with the English Champions for the highly rated 16-year-old’s signature.
The report also claims Kilmarnock are determined to keep the SFA Performance School forward at Rugby Park. But this interest from Ibrox and the Etihad is an early testament to his ability.

The Scottish Sun claims he’s been “targeted” by Rangers. But the report also claims that Smith has been down at Manchester City for a visit.
It’s an exciting time for the Academy set-up at Rangers with players from across the group raking in no fewer than four trophies this year.
There’s no reason why Rangers can’t compete with City for the signature of the player. The club put a huge emphasis on youth development and there will be a pathway to the first team for our youngsters.
A fine example of this is English youth international Nathan Young-Coombes. Rangers signed the highly-rated former Chelsea and Crystal Palace youth striker in January, and he has flourished during his short time in Glasgow.
