Former Rangers boss Mark Warburton is looking to bring reported Ibrox target Aaron Hickey to new side Queens Park Rangers, according to a report.

The Daily Record is claiming that Warburton is interested in a move for the Hearts youngster and is lining up a £1.5m bid.

The claim comes just as Steven Gerrard appeared to write off a move for the talented 17-year-old full-back.

A move for the full-back was said to be Wilson’s first port of call as the Ibrox club’s new Sporting Director.

But with Gerrard feeling sympathy with Craig Levein over the links and claiming that “there’s nothing in” the links to the player [Scotsman].

That could well hand Queens Park Rangers the advantage in the pursuit of the youngster as they look to mount a challenge in the English Championship.

Warburton currently has QPR sitting fifth in the English second tier and on current form looks good enough for at least a playoff place this season.

With Rangers seemingly out of the race to sign Hickey, come January he could well be revisiting Scotland to secure a deal for the youngster to help his charge.
