Pundit slams Rangers star’s ‘absolutely dire’ moment vs Queen’s Park

Rangers’ defeat to Queen’s Park was one of the most embarrassing in the club’s history.

The first time Gers have been knocked out of the cup by lower league opposition since 1967, and the first time EVER it has happened in a home tie.

The stats keep coming and they don’t make for good reading.

Rangers blew their Scottish Cup chance for glory with the 1-0 loss to the Championship outfit, and have given Celtic the perfect chance to land another treble.

Fans have turned on Philippe Clement again and there seems to be a belief more than ever that he can’t come back from this one.

But the manager has remained defiant on his Gers future and insists he will not be walking, leaving the ball in Patrick Stewart’s court.

Clement also bit back at a reporter as he was asked about his substitutions during the game and whether they could be seen as too defensive.

But the criticism will keep coming in the wake of one of the Ibrox club’s worst ever results.

Michael Stewart slams Rangers defender Jefte

Having shown plenty of promise in a Rangers jersey, Jefte has been linked with Premier League giants Chelsea.

But he has had his dodgy moments too and another one came yesterday.

The Brazilian full-back was the one who faced goalscorer Seb Drozd up in a one-v-one defensive situation and the Englishman was able to give him the slip far too easily before firing into the net.

Michael Stewart was on co-comms for Premier Sports and while it was lovely play from Drozd, he insists it was criminal defending from Drozd.

He said: “I did say that was the next marker, get a goal. Boy, what a goal it is, lovely drop of the shoulder. I think it goes through Liam Kelly’s legs.

“This is not good defending from Jefte, this is absolutely dire stuff. Get out, block him, he sells himself.”

Jefte still has lessons to learn

It isn’t the first time the left-back has made a high-profile error.

Rangers made hard work of their Premier Sports Cup semi-final win over Motherwell and Jefte was questioned over a “crazy, unbelievable” moment that let Andy Halliday in for an opener.

And early in his Gers career, Alan Hutton spoke of the improvement Jefte still had to do defensively, which still appears to be the case.
