Arron Lyall was the latest in a line of players rated highly in the Rangers academy but who found the step to the first-team too far.
The talented midfielder was never close to breaking into the Gers side despite possessing fantastic technical ability and showing his ability during a loan at Airdrie.
He was released in the summer, joining a list of talented players forced to move on from Ibrox, which includes Alex Lowry after he signed for Wycombe in January.
Lowry was compared to Luka Modric after his debut for Wanderers in League One, but was never able to put it all together at Rangers.
Adam Devine is another after joining Queen’s Park on loan and is Gers career looks to be over.
Many of them have proven themselves capable of playing at a lower level with fewer expectations and Lyall one who looks like doing the same.

Ex-Ger Arron Lyall scores second Morton goal in a week
The 21-year-old has been a regular in the Greenock Morton side since signing for them on a free in the summer, after impressing for Championship rivals Airdrie last season.
He took until last week to hit his first goal for the club, against Hamilton, but already has his second after finding the net against Livingston last night.
Lyall opened the scoring after a flowing move from his side and that set them up to upset the title challengers. However, they fell apart by conceding three goals in ten minutes to frustrate manager Dougie Imrie.
Among the scorers for Livi was another former Ger in Danny Wilson, who has proven to be a brilliant signing to bolster David Martindale’s defence.
Former Light Blues kid Andrew Shinnie was also on target along with Tete Yengi, while the experienced Niall McGinn pulled one back for Ton.
Lyall hailed by Morton boss Dougie Imrie
Morton manager Imrie was heavily frustrated by his side’s implosion after starting the game very well.
But he did have words of praise for Lyall, both for his goal but also for setting up Lemar Reynolds for a brilliant chance and his all-round performance.
Imrie told Ton TV: “A well-worked goal. Ryan does magnificently from the corner to pluck it out the sky. Rolls it to Ally, Ally breaks and plays a a fantastic ball into Arron Lyall’s feet. And then the wee man does the rest.”
Later in the interview, he said: “Arron Lyall, who I thought on the night was outstanding. His goal, his pass for Lemar. Lemar’s got to score in my opinion.”
