One thing is for sure, a team full of Rangers men has been appointed as the interim management team.
At the head of it, Barry Ferguson is the epitome but Neil McCann, Billy Dodds and Allan McGregor were all guys who got what it meant to play for the club too.
Fergie has explained why he wanted the ex-Gers trio in beside him along with Issame Charai, who was already in the building after recently being appointed as Philippe Clement’s assistant.
But is there another candidate who could and should have been considered? Andy Halliday thinks so.
Halliday has talked up Russell Martin’s credentials to be the next permanent boss, reckoning it could be a marriage made in heaven with the 49ers Enterprises takeover.
But he expressed his opinion that Kevin Thomson should’ve been involved with the interim team in the meantime.

Halliday thought Kevin Thomson was Rangers ‘stick-on’
Thomson recently returned to Rangers as a coach with thee under-18s. Not wanting to move him away from there may have been a factor in his omission from Ferguson’s dream team.
But Halliday thought his pal and former Gers favourite would have been in with a shout.
Speaking on Open Goal, he said: “In terms of interim stuff, your shortlist is pretty small. I think you are getting someone from within the club just now or someone who is out of a job happy to take it for three months.
“I don’t think you have got a huge pool of people.
“I think the outstanding two that you thought would have been Kevin Thomson or Barry Ferguson. I’m not just saying this because obviously Fergie is a pal of mine, but Thommo is a pal of mine as well.
“But I thought Thommo a stick on to be involved, one way or another.”
Why Barry Ferguson wanted ex-Rangers trio with him
On his decision to appoint McCann, Dodds and McGregor, Ferguson said: ”There’s a number of reasons if I’m being honest with you.
”Both Neil and Billy have obviously got experience as being managers at a good level.
”They’ve obviously, alongside Allan, played with the club. They obviously know the demands and the expectations so that was important to me as well.
”They’re bubbly about the place. They’re big characters. They like to get in amongst the boys.”
