Nicolas Raskin had been unavailable this month, but was caught watching another club while the Rangers were playing.

There were concerns that Raskin had fallen out with Danny Rohl after he was surprisingly omitted from the Light Blues’ squad to face Celtic in the final Old Firm derby of the season on 10 May.

However, that speculation has since been quashed, with Stevie Clifford of Four Lads Had a Dream reporting that the Belgium international is injured.

Raskin went on to miss Rangers’ remaining two matches, raising doubts as to whether he may have already played his last game for the Ibrox club amid uncertainty over his future.

Nevertheless, he was with the squad, as Rohl and Co. beat Falkirk 5-2 in their season finale last Saturday.

Nicolas Raskin has been linked with a Rangers exit…

Raskin seen watching Celtic during Falkirk v Rangers

The allegation was made on the STV Radio Football Show after reporter Callum Bell revealed that Danny Rohl had been heard demanding “leaders” from Andrew Cavenagh in the Tynecastle tunnel following the defeat to Hearts.

Ronnie Charters disclosed that Falkirk captain Coll Donaldson told him that Raskin was watching Celtic’s dramatic title-winning victory over Hearts while Rangers played out a 5-2 win against the Bairns on Saturday.

Apart from the midfielder, some unused Gers substitutes were also seen watching the Celtic match during half-time at the Falkirk Stadium.

While the Gers ran out comfortable winners on the day, the suggestion that Raskin and other players had one eye on Parkhead rather than their own performance will do little to ease concerns among the fanbase.

Speaking on the STV Radio Football Show, he said: “Coll Donaldson was telling us all the Rangers players were watching the Celtic game at Falkirk. The unused subs and all, Nico Raskin and all were watching the game, not watching their own team, at half-time.”

Rohl’s demand for “leaders” at Ibrox starting to make sense

For months, pundits and fans have been speculating about a mentality problem in the Rangers dressing room.

Some have questioned Rohl’s ability to handle the dressing room, while the German himself has been heard demanding new leaders to be brought in.

Connecting the dots, the events of the last few weeks suggest that the former Sheffield Wednesday boss is more aware than anyone else of the need for a change in his team’s mentality.

James Tavernier is drawing the curtain on his 11-year stint at Ibrox, but threw his toys out of the pram when Rohl informed him he would not start against Hibernian last week.

While the manager is partly at fault for denying the defender a start in his final Ibrox appearance, there is no excuse for the player’s behaviour, especially considering he still wears the armband.

Raskin, meanwhile, is in the mix to be the next Gers captain despite being linked with a move away from the club.

For the Belgian to be keenly following a Celtic game while his team’s game is ongoing raises major questions about the players and their mentality.

Rohl and Cavenagh have left much to be desired at times, but it might be worth trusting them to right the wrongs on this occasion because the evidence is right in front of our eyes.
