They say that Rome wasn’t built in a day, and in the same fashion, Steven Gerrard’s Rangers won’t be built in a window.
Despite stumbling at the weekend and struggling for consistency in the top league, there’s little doubt Gerrard and co will be in charge next year. No matter what happens.
It’s crazy to even suggest otherwise. Rangers are in a good place and our squad is considerably stronger. We will get there eventually.

That said, it will take time. And time isn’t exactly something we’ve got a lot of.
Rangers need better players and bigger depth to challenge Celtic’s reign atop the Scottish game. But for the first time in three years, we won’t have to completely rebuild the side come June. Don’t underestimate how huge that could be for the club.
We’ve been in a perpetual rebuild since Warburton and some stability will make a huge difference domestically. And financially –
Expect considerably quieter transfer window in pre-season – thankfully
Some players might leave. Alfredo Morelos perhaps the most prominent of the bunch (he’s been linked with Real Betis [by Football Scotland] amongst many others) but that would need to be for good money. Besides, he told Colombian radio station Caracol he’s happy at Ibrox.
But other than the saga which will inevitably surround the Colombian, it’s hard to see many others go. And to challenge next year, we need quality not quantity.
Three or four strong signings in pre-season will be more conducive to our success than signing the 15 we did this year.

Where do we need to improve? That much is obvious. We need creative, talented, lock-picking forward-thinking players. We need them to spark life into our immobile midfield. Especially against disciplined sides.
We also need a strong, physical and reliable option up front. And someone as reliable as Connor Goldson at the back. Without him in the team we are considerably weaker.
The next pre-season transfer window will be massive for Rangers. But unlike the last few windows, we won’t be tearing down to rebuild.
Rather, we should be beginning to see Gerrard’s vision for the future of Rangers really take shape.
