Fan favourite Alfredo Morelos has hinted he’s in no immediate rush to leave Ibrox after much talk about his future.
Widely regarded as the club’s best player, there’s a real feeling amongst the Ibrox legions that it’s a matter of when not if the 23 goal striker leaves.
But Morelos suggested to Colombian radio station Caracol that for now he is happy in Glasgow. Even if he was quoted in the Daily Record as saying it was his dream to play in the English Premier League.
“I am the top scorer in the league with 15 goals and I am very happy at Rangers,” said Morelos, as translated by The Scotsman.
“It took me a lot longer to adjust to playing in Finland with HJK Helsinki than it did when I arrived in Scotland. In Glasgow I feel very comfortable.
“There are great restaurants here and the people are friendly.”
All the sounds are good from the 22 year old striker. He appears in no hurry to leave Ibrox.
Paper talk and transfer interest never far from fan favourite Morelos
The on-fire Colombian was reportedly the subject of a £3.75m back at the start of the season, at least according to the Daily Mail. Gerrard later described the bid as derisory to The Scottish Sun. You can read our story on that HERE.
There was then much talk of the striker leaving the club in January. Reports in Turkey from Fotospor suggested Galatasaray were interested. The Daily Record then reported that Nice were lining up an £8m move for the Colombian striker.
And who could forget the controversial potential £11m bids from China the Scottish Sun reported in January last year either?
But so far, none of this transfer interest has truly materialised. Morelos also signed a new four year deal earlier in the season.
And this interview isn’t the first time the fan favourite has reiterated his commitment to the Gers either. Morelos told HJK TV he was content at Rangers after last month’s friendly with his former club.
Let’s hope we see the talented frontman turning out at Ibrox for a little while longer yet.
