France’s 1-0 win over Croatia and Romania’s 4-2 win over England means both cannot be caught going into the final group game.
Croatia lost their opening match against Romania 4-1.
It means that Romania and France have six points, but Romania top the group on goal difference.
Only the three group winners and the best-ranked runner-up progress to the semi-final stage.
It sets the upcoming France Romania match to be a cracker.
Nikola Katic retained his place for the match with France, but on-loan Celtic stopper Filip Benkovic was benched by the Balkan nation.
But the former Slaven Bepulo stopper was powerless to resist as Moussa Dembele put France ahead within the opening eight minutes.
The Lyon striker – who’s been linked with a £40m move to Manchester United – powered a header past the helpless Toni Borevkovic.
Katic was released from his footballing duties at Ibrox early to get some much-needed time off before the tournament and pre-season.
It meant that he missed the final game of the season against Kilmarnock.
But Croatia’s swift exit from the competition also means that Nikola Katic will only play one more match – against England – before joining up with Rangers.
