Rangers officially made Motherwell youth Jake Hastie their second signing of the summer after announcing the worst kept secret in Scottish football.
The Motherwell youngster has risked a first-team place, the ire of the Fir Park support and real frustration from old boss Steve Robinson to join the Gers. It’s a low-risk move for Rangers, but potentially a risky one for Hastie.
But at only 20-years-old the powerful wideman has plenty of room to grow. And Ibrox Stadium might just be the perfect place to do it.

From how Steven Gerrard spoke about Hastie, he fully intends to utilise the Scotland youth as part of the Rangers squad next season.
The Gers gaffer describes Hastie as a “talented young player” who will undoubtedly improve Rangers [Rangers.co.uk]. In the same report, Mark Allen also talks about Hastie “improving the strength of the squad”.

There’s very much a role for Hastie at Ibrox next season and this isn’t about hoarding a young Scottish talent. He will be involved in the Rangers team next year. When he gets his chance, it’s up to Jake to grab it.
If he can, Rangers could’ve snared a real coup in the physical attacker. It’s now about bringing his game on and taking it to the next level.
In front of 50,000 fans, a move to Rangers is something that can make or break you as a player. The youngster’s already shown his ambition by signing up to join the Rangers ranks in the summer.
That’s something that’s very admirable in of itself.
Let’s hope that the Motherwell youth grabs this opportunity with both hands. It certainly looks like he’ll get the chance to do so.
