Rangers manager Michael Beale claims he is “confident enough” the club will conclude a deal for LAFC’s Ecuadorean international Jose Cifuentes in the coming weeks.
The Ibrox manager confirmed heading into the weekend’s friendly clash with HSV that 24-year-old World Cup star Cifuentes has already agreed a pre-contract at Ibrox.
All that is left for Rangers is to agree a fee with LAFC over Jose Cifuentes and Michael Beale claims that he believes a deal can be done before the Scottish Premiership season kicks off.
When asked “how confident are you that you can get Cifuentes in before Kilmarnock?” Beale responded: “Confident enough”.
This means a deal should be completed imminently with the season to kick off at Rugby Park on August 5th.
Michael Beale look to “powerful” Jose Cifuentes boost
Rangers boss Beale has previously detailed the qualities that makes Jose Cifuentes such a promising option for the Ibrox side as they look to bolster their squad this summer.
Beale views the Ecuadorean as a versatile midfield option who can play in various different roles in the middle of the park and who can bring something different to the squad.
“Cifuentes, again, is a player that we like,” said Beale
“We’re hoping that that one is one that can be moved on.
“I think we need to bring one more midfielder in. He’s powerful, he works the corridor.
“He can play deeper or he can play as an eight and make the box as well but until he’s here, these things can take a twist and a turn.”

Rangers have now made nine signings under Beale, with seven acquisitions joining January moves for Belgian U21 international Nicolas Raskin and ex-Norwich City midfielder Todd Cantwell.
Earlier in the window the Gers added Kieran Dowell (Norwich), Dujon Sterling (Chelsea) and Jack Butland (Crystal Palace) on pre-contract deals, with the club since moving to sign Sam Lammers (Atalanta), Abdallah Sima (Brighton, loan), Cyriel Dessers (Cremonese) and Leon Balogun (QPR).
Whilst Michael Beale is confident a deal for Jose Cifuentes will be completed, Rangers are also being strongly linked with a move for Feyenoord’s Brazilian striker Danilo.
