Nerves jangle over the reported transfer of Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara to Leeds United as the Championship club announce Djed Spence and are linked to Ilia Gruev.
Leeds United have announced the signing of Djed Spence on a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur as they sign the right-back until the end of the campaign.
Whilst this transfer isn’t expected to have any bearing on the club’s hunt for a midfielder, the latest sounds coming out of journalist Phil Hay aren’t exactly inspiring confidence in the Kamara deal.
Writing for the Athletic, the journalist concedes that Leeds United have been monitoring Glen Kamara for several weeks but that they are yet to close a deal.
This is in contrast to reporting elsewhere which has suggested the Whites are set to agree the £5m transfer of the Finnish international before the end of the window.

Leeds United looking at Glen Kamara alternatives?
The report also makes mention of an “approach” for Werder Bremen’s Bulgarian midfielder Ilia Gruev, who plays as a defensive midfielder.
Valued at £4m, the 23-year-old certainly appears an alternative to Glen Kamara on paper and comes after links to Japanese midfielder Ao Tanaka earlier in the week.
It also comes after a reported £5m bid for Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Nadiem Amiri collapsed in the last few days.
The reports don’t stop there either, with Leeds interest in Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley also mentioned, although it’s not clear if a deal can be struck.
The whole thing leaves the Glen Kamara to Leeds United situation a little up in the air and whilst there is nothing to suggest a deal is off, Rangers fans are watching on closely.

Whilst Glen Kamara has previously been a key player for Rangers, leaving the protracted exit of the wantaway midfielder to the last minute has seen fears rise of the player hanging around the club beyond the end of the window.
The links to just about every single available midfielder in Europe also make Rangers fans nervous that a deal for Glen Kamara is being held off whilst Leeds United look for alternatives.
