Rangers icon Kris Boyd shared a picture of Ibrox legend Paul Gascoigne to troll Celtic fans after their last-minute Champions League defeat to Lazio.
The former Gers striker took to Instagram to share a now deleted image of Paul Gascoigne wearing a Lazio jersey, the Rangers legend famously turning out for the Italian club.
Kris Boyd knows fine well what he was doing with the Paul Gascoigne Lazio image and it’s sure to wind up a Celtic support in mourning after yet another Champions League defeat.
Celtic had gone ahead early in the match through Kyogo Furuhashi before Matías Vecino equalised with the game sitting at 1-1 at halftime.
With reported summer Rangers target and Honduran attacker Luis Palma having a goal ruled out for offside, legendary Spanish attacker Pedro would nod home the winner in the 95th minute of injury time.
It’s now ten years since they recorded a victory in the competition but once again – as we all know by now – it was another moral victory.

It is yet another defeat for the valiant nearly-men of Scottish football on the European stage as members of the press and their support mourn yet another negative result in the face of a spirited performance. How noble.
Whilst Rangers can’t really say much – the club’s failure to qualify for this season’s tournament a huge part of why Michael Beale was sacked – Celtic are to a certain extent only in the tournament off the back of our European exploits.
Rangers’ recent form in the Europa League has guaranteed Scottish football a Champions League space for the last two seasons and if you’re not spewing that the club’s mismanagement post-55 has handed them the Europass then are you really a Gers supporter?
But as the Parkhead side have dominated Scottish football they have perennially underperformed on the continent with Brendan Rodgers now statistically the competition’s worst ever manager after 20 games.
That is however little consolation for the fact that Rangers’ injury-ravaged side of last season is statistically the worst-ever Champions League group stage team.
Whilst some might moan about Kris Boyd using Paul Gascoigne to goad Celtic fans following their defeat to Lazio, the situation is perfectly justified from a Rangers point of view.
Not only do we get to read or hear journalists and fans wail through the prose of yet another glorious defeat, and collectively smirk through Boydy’s pearly whites, but the Parkhead side get no bonuses for Champions League failure.
At this stage – with the Ibrox club’s Champions League shortcomings threatening to widen a gap into a chasm – we’ll take every penny we can get.
