Steven Gerrard has opened up on transfer talk surrounding Watford forward Andre Gray.
The Gers boss was asked about the £18.5m striker in a pre-match press conference looking forward to the match with Hibs.
And whilst the Gers boss was coy about any interest, he suggested that any talk surrounding the player was “just all speculation”.
“I get asked every single week about a different name or a different player,” said Gerrard.
“I get all my press cuttings and briefed on all my press and there’s four or five different names every press conference.
“So I’m wasting my time and your time until there’s any truth or substance. It’s just all speculation.”
Whilst Gerrard didn’t rule anything in or out with regards Andre Gray, he was forced to field more questions on the financial legitimacy of any deal.
The Gers boss said he is yet to be made fully aware of any transfer budgets but mentioned that the Board have routinely backed him. He claims they’ve helped bring Premier League quality to the club before, and we shouldn’t be surprised if they do so again.
Rangers were first linked to Andre Gray
But for those who thought it lacked substance, club insider Four Lads Had a Dream claimed there was “definite interest” in the Watford striker.
