An Italian journalist who broke the story about Rangers’ £3m pursuit of former Bologna defender Filip Helander is claiming there are legs in the story linking Claudio Marchisio to Ibrox.
All week supporters have been up and down with the story that the Juventus legend is considering the option of coming to Rangers.
First it was off, then it was back on, and now everyone is counting down the seconds to Steven Gerrard’s next press conference to see if there’s any truth in it at all.

According to respected Italian journalist Nima Tavallaey Roodsari, there very much is.
“As far as Rangers go, I know that there is interest from Rangers in Marchisio,” Tavelley Roodsari told Rocksport Radio [11/09/19 – approx. 10:00].
“That I do know, that I’ve had it confirmed.
“They’ve contacted his people, his agent, to see if there’s an interest.
“I don’t have it confirmed that it’s gone much further than that.
“You have to remember that Monaco, Porto, there are a lot of clubs that Marchisio is interested in and have been interested in him.
“I don’t see Rangers as being the favourites to signing him.
“What’s said about Steven Gerrard is true, Steven Gerrard is incredibly respected in Italy by everyone and not just Marchisio.
“I think that’s what speaks more to it, to get to know Gerrard a little bit better.
“Formal negotiations have not really begun as far as I’m aware. I know there’s an interest from Rangers – they would like to snap him up.”
Whatever the case – regardless of Rangers stance on Marchisio – Tavelley doubts that the Glasgow club are the frontrunners to secure the player’s signature.
But what Tavelley admit is that Marchisio is going to take his time to make his mind up – and that it’s a near guarantee he won’t be returning to Italy.
