Is Rangers star's position in side under threat in wake of ban?

Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor will now serve an extended ban for his ridiculous kick out at Hibs striker Marc McNulty, meaning he’ll miss the first game of next season.
The veteran Rangers goalie lashed out at Hib’s McNulty after a seemingly innocuous clash. He was correctly red-carded and now the powers that be have slapped a three-game ban on him.
But with Rangers seemingly on the hunt for a top-class goalkeeper, might McGregor serve an even bigger punishment next season?

Rangers have been linked with a range of goalkeepers as we head into the transfer window. On-loan Kilmarnock goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann claimed he turned down an approach from Ibrox in order to fight for his place at parent club Watford [Scottish Sun].
Rangers have also been linked with
a move for St. Johnstone’s Zander Clark [Football Insider].
These transfer links would suggest Rangers are interested in securing the services of another goalkeeper in the window.
Allan McGregor’s position in the Rangers side is normally never up for debate. The 37-year-old is a rock for Rangers between the sticks and even earned
a Football Writer’s Player of the Year nomination for his performances.

Wes Foderingham and Andy Firth are the current Rangers backups, but considering how sparingly they’ve been used, it suggests Rangers want more strength in depth.
Should the club get someone in, they could well get an early chance to stake a claim for McGregor’s shirt.
