Rangers youngster Leon King is only 15 years old, but already finds himself a fixture of the Scottish youth set-up.
The ball-playing centre back has already been called up to the Scottish U17s side. That’s after he made an inspiring debut for the Rangers U20s aged only 14 last November.
King might still be very young, but it looks like he’s being primed for the first team. In doing so, have Rangers unearthed yet another Billy Gilmour?

Granted, Leon King is a centre half, but we’re talking about ability here. Like King, midfield playmaker Gilmour was tossed into games far beyond his age group and excelled.
Chelsea came calling for Gilmour when he turned 16 but Rangers will obviously be hoping to keep a hold of King when he turns professional.
Still lots more to come from King
The youngster didn’t play for the U17s in their recent 2-0 defeat to Portugal U17s. But with two games in the next week against Russia and Poland, the young Ger will be hoping to get his chance.
King also picked up the player of the tournament award at the elite youth JD Club NI tournament.
Rangers have been lucky to foster all kinds of talent from within the club recently. Ross McCrorie and Glenn Middleton are two youngsters who’ve made the step to the main squad, whilst the likes of Jamie Barjonas, Robby McCrorie and Stephen Kelly are on the fringes of the first team.
Rangers U17s also recently delighted fans after winning the ALKASS Cup in Qatar, with the likes of Nathan Young-Coombes stealing the show. Gers youth prospect Joao Balde has even been called up to represent Portugal at youth level.
The future certainly looks bright at Ibrox. And like Billy Gilmour, Leon King is one of the brightest talents the club has produced in recent years.
