Back in March a lot of talk was around Alfredo Morelos potentially making the Colombia squad for the upcoming Copa America in the summer.
The striker had just made the South American side’s 23 for their doubleheader with Japan and South Korea in the last international break.
But after being sent off against Celtic in the last Old Firm, he’s been forced to sit out the last four games. And it’s had an impact on his role in the Gers side.

No-one can take away from what has been a superb goalscoring season for the talented forward. His 29 goals have reportedly drawn interest from across Europe. They also earned the striker a new deal at Ibrox.
But since he has been out of the side Rangers have settled into a real rhythm domestically. So much so, that
Steven Gerrard faces a real dilemma over whether to include the Colombian in his starting XI again this season.
Morelos has made his apologies for the incident at Celtic Park. He is ready to make amends. But with rumours over his future swirling and only three games left, he might struggle to properly do so.
He may also struggle to convince Carlos Queiroz that he deserves a place in Colombia’s Copa America squad.

It’d be a real shame if Alfredo Morelos was to miss out on what’s a great opportunity this summer. But it’ll also act as a learning curve for his ill-discipline in the future.
For both club and country, his temper could well have hampered his chances of ending this season on a real high.
