Earlier in the season Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos’ 29 goals for the club seemed irreplaceable. But for iconic Premier League manager Harry Redknapp, there’s a readymade replacement already at Ibrox.
In Jermain Defoe, Redknapp believes Rangers have a 40 goal striker for next season. That’ll go some way to replacing the gap left by Gers fan favourite Morelos.
The former Tottenham, Portsmouth and West Ham boss is very familiar with legendary Premier League striker Defoe.

And despite Defoe being 36 years old, Redknapp is convinced he can still do the business for Rangers.
“Jermain looks after himself so well. He lives right, he’s not a drinker, he’s totally dedicated. Can he get 40 goals? Yes, of course,” Harry Redknapp said, speaking at The John Hartson Foundation Golf Event at Trump Turnberry and quoted by the Scotsman.
“He will always score goals. He’s an amazing finisher. He has such amazing movement and given the chance he will stick them away and I’d expect him to do that next season.”
Jermain Defoe has already nabbed seven goals for Rangers this campaign and is really beginning to look the part at Ibrox.
Signing on-loan in January alongside Steven Davis, Defoe has looked very sharp in the last few games. So much so that

And should Rangers get their £20m for Colombian, Redknapp’s comments suggest they don’t need to rush out and buy a replacement.
The English manager believes Jermain Defoe is perfectly capable of plugging the goals gap left behind by the talismanic striker should Morelos leave Ibrox.
And to think, fans were starting to get excited about the idea of an £18m man moving to Ibrox…
