HJK Helsinki striker Eetu Vertainen has described playing at Ibrox as a “great feeling”.
In an interview with HJK TV, Vertainen opened up on his last season in Helsinki and his trip to play Rangers. The attacking midfielder turned striker was impressed with how his team performed.
And it was the talented 19 year old who stood out for the Finnish champions during their recent trip to Govan. The burly striker twice turned Rangers centre halves and forced strong stops from goalkeepers Wes Foderingham and Robby McCrorie in the first and second periods respectively.
His impressive performance lead to many Rangers fans singing Vertainen’s praises. Some were even calling for the club to take a closer look at the Finnish forward.
Now taking the step into a striking position, the former attacking midfielder had a decent return last year from the middle of the pitch.

Eetu Vertainen played 30 times for Helsinki last season (13 from the bench). He scored nine goals and laid on a further seven.
Now under the tutelage of Finnish legend Mikael Forssell, Vertainen is looking to develop further. He was a creative, physical presence up front on Sunday and poses an interesting proposition. Rangers could certainly do worse than keep tabs on the player.
It wouldn’t be the first time Rangers snapped up one of the Finnish sides top talents. One Alfredo Morelos was signed from the Scandinavians.
Should Rangers look into the signing, they can also take comfort in the fact he’ll have a compatriot at Ibrox come the end of the season.
