Fringe Rangers winger Jordan Jones travelled with the club to Gibraltar as reports persist concerning the player’s future at Ibrox.
The Northern Irish international, 25, has yet to make an appearance for Rangers this season with reports suggesting up to six Championship clubs have an interest in the player.
But despite coming back from international duty with a knock – and initially missing out on Rangers’ Europa League squad – Jones was filmed travelling to the Rock.
The pacey winger has since been added to the squad for the match against Lincoln Red Imps with fellow wide man Brandon Barker dropping out.
Third-choice keeper Andy Firth has also replaced defender Leon Balogun with both the Nigerian international and Barker failing fitness tests.
Jones has been courting plenty of reported interest during the transfer window with now Northern Ireland boss Ian Baraclough claiming Rangers have told the player he is free to leave [Daily Record].
Former Northern Ireland boss Michael O’Neill, now at Stoke, reportedly wants a reunion with the player whilst Blackburn Rovers and former club Middlesbrough are also linked [Northern Echo].
Ex-Ibrox gaffer and now QPR boss Mark Warburton was also said to be interested in taking the player to Loftus Road.
The origin of those reports come from TEAMtalk, who also linked Preston and Barnsley to the former Kilmarnock winger.
For now, Jones is very much a Rangers player despite being a fringe member of the squad with the Northern Echo report claiming the winger could be available for around £500k.
But did comments made by Steven Gerrard hint that the player’s future might not be away from Ibrox after all?
