Fresh footage shows VAR should’ve awarded Rangers penalty v Celtic

As the dust settles on Rangers’ latest defeat at Celtic Park, fresh footage from the fixture appears to show that the Ibrox club should’ve been awarded a penalty.

The Gers have written to Hampden bosses for an explanation amid the fall-out from the result, with Alfredo Morelos’ disallowed goal the subject of much of the club’s ire.

The striker was adjudged to have pushed Canadian right-back Alistair Johnston after he scored from a corner, but replays showed that controversial referee and Celtic’s preferred whistler Kevin Clancy got the call wrong.

What’s worse is that in the VAR room Steven McLean barely blinked before waving play on.

There was also a handball from Celtic attacker Jota after Ben Davies’ mistake in the build up to Celtic’s second goal with Callum McGregor’s free reign to make robust challenges also criticised.

But there is another suspect decision from the match with Rangers fans now pointing out that the club should’ve almost certainly had a penalty in the eventual 3-2 defeat.

Should Rangers have had penalty at Celtic Park?

This comes with a clip of Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos being manhandled in the Celtic penalty box, with VAR either failing to pick the moment up or will fully ignoring it.

Once again it’s Alistair Johnston – who appeared to be afforded all types of protection on the day – who was involved and clearly tugging the Ibrox star’s shirt.

Add this incident to the long list of complaints coming out of Rangers as the club now challenge the nonsense penalty and VAR coverage we’ve been exposed to in Scotland.

Celtic, despite their strength in the footballing department at present, insist on bringing the game into disrepute in Scotland via refereeing conspiracies, politicking with the SPFL and droning media coverage from their lackeys in the press.

Perhaps now Rangers can begin to turn the screw themselves with Celtic’s pathetic browbeating, between referees and the allocation, clearly beginning to win them a sporting advantage.
