Former Rangers star Josh Windass said he left the club because he was angry Rangers only valued him at around £2m.
Now, he’s facing the very real prospect of relegation into the third tier of English football. Windass’ Wigan side are toiling as the club’s one win in eleven matches has them 21st in the Championship. They are two points from safety with five games to go.
Should Windass go down with Wigan, he could wind up visiting his old club, Accrington Stanley. They gained promotion to League One last season.

Rangers controversially signed the forward from the Crown Ground on a pre-contract back in 2016.
Windass enjoyed a mixed spell at Rangers, but the club has struggled to replace the player’s goals this season.

Whilst to many he was an arrogant player, others felt he was a talented player who could go on to be a very good one.
But now Windass will be frustrated his side are in the midst of a relegation dogfight. The Championship is an incredibly competitive league and the club’s players will need to dig in to get them out of trouble.

Most fans will want the best for Josh Windass, now 25, and will be hoping Wigan can stay up. But you have to wonder what might’ve been if he didn’t let his ego get the better of him at Ibrox. Could he regret moving so hastily in the summer?
Even if Josh Windass’ Rangers career is over, for now at least, could Rangers yet move for one of his teammates?
