Slovakia and Fenerbahçe defender Martin Skrtel, 34, has rejected an approach from Steven Gerrard and Rangers, according to reports in Turkey.
Turkish outlet Fotospor is reporting that Skrtel has rejected the chance to join Rangers. The report also claims the big defender is in the midst of a contract struggle with the Turkish giants.
A former Liverpool teammate of Steven Gerrard’s, Skrtel’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season. He is reportedly struggling to agree terms on a new deal with Fenerbahçe.

But according to Fotospor that hasn’t stopped him ruling out a move to Ibrox come to the end of the season.
It’s not the first time the big defender has been linked with Rangers. Skrtel was reportedly being lined up by Steven Gerrard way back when the Rangers boss first took over at the club.

With a year left his contract, later reports suggested Rangers would potentially revisit a move when it expired [CNN Turkey].
Now, if the Fotospor report is to be believed Rangers have made contact but Skrtel is not interested in moving to Ibrox for the money currently on the table. The report also claims Skrtel has rejected a move to Serie A Parma for the same reasons.
Rangers will now have to turn their attention elsewhere, with a deal for Renne’s Mozambican defender Mexer reportedly “getting closer”.
