Fashion Sakala leads emotional tributes as Rangers family rallies behind Connor Goldson amid surgery

The Rangers family has rallied around former Light Blues defender Connor Goldson in a massive show of solidarity after the centre-back announced he is set to undergo a second open-heart surgery.

Taking to Instagram, the 33-year-old revealed that he will undergo the major operation on Tuesday, 14 July, marking nine years since he underwent his first life-altering cardiac procedure.

Goldson, who spent six highly successful years at Ibrox before moving on, remains an incredibly respected figure in Glasgow.

Following his emotional update, an array of current stars, former teammates, and Ibrox icons immediately flooded social media to offer their prayers and support.

Fashion Sakala leads powerful tributes

While thousands offered their support to Goldson, fervently leading the emotional messages was former Gers forward Fashion Sakala.

The Zambia international, known for his close relationship with Goldson during their shared time in Glasgow, penned a deeply moving public letter of faith and brotherhood:

“My brother, I’m praying for you and believing that God will strengthen you and be with you every step of the way.

“Stay strong, keep your faith, and trust that everything will be okay. Thank you for being such an amazing brother.

“I’m truly grateful for your friendship, and I believe you’ll come through this stronger than ever. Wishing you God’s peace, strength, and a full, speedy recovery.”

Rangers past and present unite

The comment section of Goldson’s announcement quickly transformed into a testament to the strong bond forged inside the Ibrox dressing room over recent years.

From the current first-team ranks, Ross McCausland offered his support by leaving a heart emoji under the post, while recently departed Jack Butland and Ianis Hagi also sent their well wishes.

They were joined by a massive list of former teammates and managers who achieved success alongside Goldson in Govan.
