Rangers attacker Ross McCausland has spent the season out on loan at Cypriot side Aris Limassol.
Now, he is set to return to Ibrox as his loan spell will expire, and his contract with the Light Blues runs until June 2027.
There were certain conditions that would have made Aris’ deal an obligation to buy, but it is understood that the player does not want to join them permanently.
Will Rangers re-sign Mikey Moore for the 2026/27 season?
His silence when asked about a return speaks volumes…
Ross McCausland has England and European options this summer
According to the Daily Record, while McCausland wants to fight for his spot at Rangers, he does have European and English clubs keen on securing his services.
This could mean that in the coming weeks, there are offers made by English clubs, most likely in the Championship, for his services.
Thus far, the Northern Ireland international has not made a decision about his future, but he could do so based on what Danny Rohl’s stance is.
Russell Martin was the one who sanctioned his loan move, but he’s no longer there to make the decision.
The 22-year-old would want to play regularly, and that seems unlikely at Rangers next season.
At Aris, he played 25 games, scored four goals and provided three assists.
Will Rangers sack Danny Rohl if they fail to win the league?
If he goes, who would be a good replacement for him?
Why McCausland does not have a future at Rangers
Rangers are unlikely to make an emotional decision regarding the future of McCausland.
He does have the potential to become a first-team regular, but scoring four goals in Cyprus is not something that qualifies him to be a starter at Ibrox.
The winger has shown glimpses of his brilliance when he’s played for the Light Blues, but his consistency has always been called into question.

This will be the last summer the Gers can cash in on him, and they are likely to take up that opportunity.
Rohl has already seen where his squad is lacking, as there is a very good chance that they could even finish third this season.
The German will certainly not be thinking that having someone like McCausland in the side will help turn things around.
Hopefully, there is a decent amount of interest in the Northern Irishman as the club can then demand a bigger transfer fee.
