Rangers have had a couple of strange transfer windows with players being linked and bus being reported that fly against everything Philippe Clement and those above him have said.

The manager would love a blank cheque or two to improve his squad, however, the January transfer window showed exactly where the Ibrox outfit are, if people didn’t already know.

A big money move for Morgan Whittaker was claimed with a £5m offer for Gonçalo Borges being rejected by Porto.

Feyenoord swoop for Goncalo Borges after summer Rangers bid

The 23-year old winger is now set to be on the move after a move to Strasbourg in the summer fell through, this time it is Feyenoord looking to pay a similar fee to the one that Nils Koppen is said to have sent to the Liga Portugal outfit.

According to Fabrizio Romano, a last minute bid deal could be forced through:

“Feyenoord submit official bid worth €7m to sign Gonçalo Borges from Porto.

“After bids from Strasbourg and Genoa rejected, now Feyenoord trying with deal brokered by Epic Sports.

“One to watch today with Dutch window to close soon, short time to work on paperworks.”

The one position Rangers have to get right in the summer

As well as Whittaker and Borges, Couhaib Driouech openly admitted having an offer from Rangers and Yorbe Veterssen was a deadline day target only for his move to RB Salzburg to be too far down the line to hijack.

Interest in these players and reports of bids all came from reputable sources like Romano and yet the only arrival in the two windows was Vaclav Cerny on loan.

A position that was already short got even shorter when Rabbi Matondo departed for Hannover and still, no new winger for fans to get excited about.

The technical director better have something up his sleeve for the summer, and from the moment the window opens given how underprepared Rangers were for the Champions League qualifiers this season.
