Ex-Rangers striker Umar Sadiq has finally announced himself at Real Sociedad with a stunning long-range goal.
The Nigerian international hitman, 26, has just spend the best part of a year on the sidelines with an excruciating knee injury.
Only last week were we writing about how Umar Sadiq’s meteoric post-Rangers rise had been halted by the issue, the striker previously without a goal in 13 games this season.
But as Real Sociedad played host to Sevilla, Umar Sadiq wound up the eventual matchwinner and did so in style with his first goal in 14 months.
Umar Sadiq nets stunning long-range goal
Cutting inside in his trademark if not unorthodox style, the gangly forward never really appeared in full control of the ball. But then again, he never does.
After finding some space about 30 to 35 yards from goal, Umar Sadiq then lashed in an absolutely stunning effort to put Real Sociedad 2-0 up.
The La Liga would hold on for a victory over Sevilla, who did pull one back but who had both Sergio Ramos and Jesus Navas sent off in the closing stages.
What a way for Umar Sadiq to announce himself on the scene at Real Sociedad after an initially promising start to his career in Spain’s top flight was halted by injury heartbreak.
Ex-Rangers striker finally finding feet
The Umar Sadiq wonder-goal comes after the striker initially started brightly at Real Sociedad, where he netted three goals in his first five La Liga matches.
Signed in a £20m deal from fellow Spanish side Almeria, Umar Sadiq had spent a couple of season previously lighting up Liga Segunda and being linked to Bayern Munich.
This was after the gangly striker hit top form with Partizan Belgrade, Manchester United having reportedly cast a glance in his direction as a result.

This is in stark contrast to the six months Umar Sadiq spent at Ibrox, the Nigerian international never quite fitting in with Steven Gerrard’s squad after signing on loan from AS Roma in 2018.
Signed to replace Newcastle United bound Alexander Isak, who left for the Magpies in a £63m deal last summer, Umar Sadiq was a big loss for Real Sociedad last season.
But going by his latest goal, we suspect Rangers fans are once again going to have to get used to seeing this guy make headlines everywhere.
