Former Rangers striker Umar Sadiq has gone from links to Bayern Munich to drawing a blank for Real Sociedad.
The Nigerian international hitman, 26, is without a goal for the La Liga side this season despite playing in 13 games for the Spanish club.
It comes as Umar Sadiq works his way back from a devastating cruciate ligament injury which wrecked the first season of his dream move to the Txuri-Urdin.
Umar Sadiq pain continues at Real Sociedad
Ex-Rangers striker Umar Sadiq had scored three goals in his first five La Liga matches after a move to Real Sociedad last summer.
Signing on deadline day, the La Liga side signed a deal which could see Almería bank up to €25m (£22m) on the striker, who had scored 43 goals in 84 games for the Spanish side.
Umar Sadiq, now 26, looked like he was the perfect replacement for Newcastle United-bound striker Alexander Isak but the last year has been fraught with injury pain.
Returning to the side this season, it’s been a nervous fightback from injury as Umar Sadiq is restricted to substitute appearances.
It’s a long way from the explosive post-Ibrox form at Partizan Belgrade and Almeria which had the links of Manchester United and Bayern linked to his services.
Ex-Rangers striker toils
The form is more in keeping with the striker who had a disastrous spell at Rangers during Steven Gerrard’s first season as manager in 2018.
Signed on loan from AS Roma, Rangers looked to have pulled off a coup with the signing of Umar Sadiq who would supplement Alfredo Morelos and Kyle Lafferty in the squad’s attack.
But after falling out with Steven Gerrard, and infamously fluffing his lines in a Hampden semi-final v Aberdeen, the writing was on the wall and the striker returned to Italy.

Since then, Real Sociedad hitman Umar Sadiq has performed admirably with his strike rate and unorthodox style attracting legitimate interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe.
We also wonder if he ever got that final pay check from Steven Gerrard!
