Ryan Kent is on the lookout for a new club after his Fenerbahce contract was ripped up.

Things have not gone according to plan for the winger since leaving Rangers and he has only made a handful of appearances since his exit in the summer of 2023.

Kent couldn’t break into the Fener team during his season-and-a-half there and irked both managers he played under as well as the support.

Jose Mourinho fumed at the 27-year-old for opting to reject offers to move on in the summer transfer window and eventually there was a parting of the ways.

Former Rangers winger Kent could sign for Preston

Now a free agent, Kent reportedly has a number of clubs interested in his services.

Leeds have been linked with the player since back in his Ibrox days and are still mentioned in connection with him.

A possible return to Rangers was even mooted after Philippe Clement admitted trying to sign him for Club Brugge, while ambitious English League One side Leyton Orient were taking a look.

Former Gers bosses Steven Gerrard and Giovanni van Bronckhorst were both also linked with Kent for Al-Ettifaq and Besiktas respectively.

Now, Preston North End have emerged as a candidate for his signature.

The Championship side are managed by former Hibs boss Paul Heckingbottom who worked with Kent at Barnsley. The Sun are reporting that he is now lining up a swoop to be reunited with his former loan star.

Why Kent had Fenerbahce contract ripped up

Kent annoyed Jose Mourinho when he rejected multiple chances to leave the Turkish giants despite not playing.

One of those was the opportunity to play in Sere A with Lazio but there were said to be as many as 21 offers to leave over the summer too.

The relationship with Mourinho appeared to break down and Kent was sent to train on his own rather than with his teammates.

He was soon released though and the Daily Mail reported that the former Rangers star had threatened court action over being forced to train alone.

Rather than allow that to happen, the club decided to come to an agreement to let both parties part ways.
