Former Rangers striker Kenny Miller has backed under-fire Rangers boss Steven Gerrard and made a controversial transfer suggestion on BBC Radio Scotland’s Sportsound, as quoted by BBC.co.uk.
The Gers are in the midst of remarkable domestic slump following the winter break, which reached it’s lowest point to date with a home defeat to Hamilton Accies on Wednesday night.

Plenty of fingers have been pointed by supporters in recent times with the manager and senior players questioned.
However, not only does Miller think Gerrard is the right man to continue, he doesn’t believe wholesale changes are required in the summer transfer window.
“I am sure he [Gerrard] will be working tirelessly to find a solution and the club needs stability,” he said on BBC Radio Scotland’s Sportsound, as quoted by BBC.co.uk.
“He has signed his contract until 2024. He has committed long-term to the job, the club have committed to him thinking he’s the right man and I think he is.”
“He’s got a decent group of players there and you’re going to have another summer of recruitment where I don’t think major overhauls are needed – maybe three or four max to strengthen the squad.”

Verdict
While some are beginning to lose patience, plenty of Bears came out in support of Steven Gerrard after he reiterated his commitment to the job.
However, many players have come in for criticism on social media, with pressure ramped up even further in the wake of that midweek defeat.
Defensive errors, sloppy midfield play and profligacy in front of goal have all been features of this Gers side in recent weeks, leading plenty of supporters to call for a total overhaul of the squad in the summer.
Therefore, Miller’s suggestion that only a few new players are required, is certainly controversial.
Over the first half of the season, the players showed themselves to be more than capable of competing with Celtic.
Yet, since the winter break, the drop off has been so significant, that supporters are right to question whether the current crop have the mentality required to end their rivals’ dominance.
Given the number of starters who aren’t performing and squad players who haven’t contributed all season, it’d be a big surprise if only minor alterations were made come the summer.
