Feyenoord could now turn to Bologna striker Sydney van Hooijdonk – the son of former Celtic star Pierre – as Rangers step their interest in Danilo.
According to Dutch outlet 1908, the Eredivisie champions are targeting a move for the 23-year-old striker to potentially replace Danilo, who is the subject of interest from Ibrox.

According to the report, Dutch striker Sydney van Hooijdonk is now the “most discussed” target to replace the Brazilian, who reportedly wants the move to Glasgow.
1908 believe that Feyenoord will soon make contact with Serie A Bologna over a transfer of the striker, who moved to Italy in the summer of July 2021 but who spent last season on loan at Heerenveen.
The suggestion is that Bologna are open to the sale of Sydney van Hooijdonk and may yet climb down from their €8m (£7m) valuation of the striker.
However, a move is anything but complete and whilst Sydney van Hooijdonk does look set to leave Bologna in this window, there’s nothing set in stone that it will be towards De Kuip.
Sydney van Hooijdonk could hold key to Rangers Danilo move
For watching Rangers fans who’re excited about the move for Danilo the reports around Sydney van Hooijdonk will add an interesting dynamic, and not least because the striker’s dad played for Celtic.
Pierre van Hooijdonk spent two years at Celtic between 1995 and 1997 and the ex-Parkhead striker’s son could now provide the springboard for Rangers to move for Danilo.
Interestingly, Pierre van Hooijdonk famously also played for Feyenoord between 2001 and 2003 and that link could also prove pivotal in the Dutch club securing a deal for son Sydney.

The report comes at a time when Rangers are said to be closing in on a move for Brazilian striker Danilo after the club reportedly launched a €6m (£5m) package earlier in the week.
Rangers have already boosted their frontline with the additions of Sam Lammers, Abdallah Sima and Cyriel Dessers, with excitement mounting over this potential deal for the South American.
Interestingly, Van Hooijdonk isn’t the only striker being linked to Feyenoord either, with Japanese forward Ayase Ueda also said to be a summer target.
