STV Football host Ewen Cameron, a staunch Hearts fan, attended Derek McInnes’ first press conference as Rangers manager.
McInnes was confirmed as Rangers boss last week, but was in the United States, so had not been officially unveiled.
However, on Wednesday, he arrived at Ibrox, greeted fans who were waiting for him, and answered questions from the press.
Which Hearts player(s) would you like to see at Rangers next season?
Derek McInnes may be tempted to sign one or two this summer!
Ewen Cameron reveals he had light-hearted private conversation with Derek McInnes
Ewen Cameron had an interaction with Derek McInnes in the press conference, which was labelled as “tense” by The National.
However, the STV Football host denied those assertions and even revealed that one of his questions got a laugh from people in the room.
He revealed that he spoke to McInnes off the air as well, where the new Light Blues manager told him that he had no issue with any of the questions.
The duo had a nice laugh about it as well before Cameron wished him all the best for his time at the helm at Ibrox.
Which pundit do Rangers fans dislike the most?
Some of them are terrible…
Cameron has been bitter about McInnes’ Hearts exit, as he is a Jambos fan and has seen not just their manager but also captain Lawrence Shankland leaving for Rangers.
Via X, he wrote: “My interaction with Derek McInnes, at Ibrox today, was not ‘TENSE’. You’ve made that up.
“I didn’t feel any tension at all; in fact, my third question got a laugh from behind me.
“The reason I asked Derek questions about Hearts is because he hadn’t, up until today, spoken verbally about leaving Tynecastle.
“Derek, who I spoke to privately afterwards, had no issue with my questions. We chatted, we laughed, we move on, and I wished him all the best.”

What has McInnes said about being convinced to join Rangers?
McInnes admits that Rangers approaching him was an unexpected surprise, and after having conversations with them, he knew that it was the right move for him.
He claims that he has a better chance of winning trophies than he did at Tynecastle, despite taking them to touching distance of the Scottish Premiership last season.
While there have been links with Hearts players, McInnes has revealed that, as things stand, he is not looking to bring in anyone from Hearts.
What is Ross McCrorie’s best position, according to you?
Rangers have brought him back to Ibrox!
He said: “You don’t just say yes without having conversations. The initial approach was Rangers wanting to speak to me, so it kind of came out of the blue, but I did have a really good time at Hearts. I worked with a lot of good people and I believe in the potential of Hearts.
“At the same time, I believe in the potential here, and I think this gives me the best chance to win a bit more. It was a sobering feeling leaving Celtic Park in probably the lowest point in my career because I had a firm belief that we were going to win the league for a long period.
“So all these things wrestle with you and I think Rangers give me the best chance to win titles and go forward here. Our job is to try and bring the best players now but as it stands, we’re not looking to go and get anybody from Hearts.
“We’re certainly not having any conversations this window. The players we have been discussing, there’s no player under contract at Hearts we’ve been discussing, no.”
