The chase for Dominic Solanke is now effectively over. So the big question now for Rangers is – who’s next?

Reports have surfaced that Crystal Palace are closing in on a move for the striker. Solanke has been widely-tipped for a move to Ibrox over the last several months, but nothing has come of it seemingly.

Therefore, that begs the question as to who Rangers can possibly turn to next in their chase for a striker when it comes to realism.

First of all, let’s take a look at the two other strikers Rangers have been linked with in recent weeks.

Firstly, Fran Sol had been interesting Rangers, Celtic, and Pedro Caixinha’s Cruz Azul. Still, however, he’s plying his trade at Willem II without any offers coming in for him.

He most recently scored in Willem II’s 2-0 win at Emmen last weekend. That was his 13th goal in 17 appearances for him this season. With his contract running out at the end of the season, this could be a cheap option for Rangers should they wish to give it a try.

Then, of course, there is the underwhelming link with Gillingham’s Tom Eaves.

The Englishman has a less impressive goal record than Sol does. He’s only netted 15 times in a total of 28 matches in League One this season. Sol has managed just two less in 11 less appearances.

Eaves doesn’t particularly have the pedigree behind him to be a huge success at Ibrox. Why Rangers would be interested in this one is anyone’s guess, but there was clearly something in the story.

Options outside of those linked with the club

Outside of linked players, however, Rangers have further options.

Both Louis Moult and Florian Kamberi could be worth having a punt on in January as alternative options.

Moult, of course, fired home a mightily impressive 49 goals in 98 appearances for Motherwell during his time up north. Rangers will remember him well considering he bagged four goals against them during his time at Fir Park.

Granted, in terms of goals:games, Moult isn’t exactly doing well these days. He has just five in 21 appearances this term. Considering Preston are still keen on him, getting him on a good deal could be tricky.

The same could be said of Florian Kamberi. The Hibs forward only just signed for the Edinburgh side at the start of the season after an impressive six-month loan spell last season. He has two goals against Celtic to his name this term and one against the Gers from the last campaign.

In total, Kamberi has managed 15 goals in 33 games for Hibs. That’s despite the fact the Edinburgh side have failed to give him much decent service this season through a wanting midfield. He could perhaps strike up a perfect partnership with Alfredo Morelos – something the Colombian is craving.

Regardless of who Rangers go for, it’s now highly-unlikely to be Solanke. Therefore, let us know who would be on your striker wishlist. Would any of these four tempt you?
