So much of Rangers’ early transfer talk has been dominated by Liverpool winger Ryan Kent.
The 22-year-old youngster has been on sparkling form for the Ibrox club since joining on loan at the beginning of last season. He even picked up the PFA’s Young Player of the Year Award.
As a result, Rangers have made an offer to keep the player at the club next season. But do some of Kent’s earlier comments suggest his future might lie elsewhere?
“I want to kickstart my career somewhere now. I’m tired of changing clubs each year and want to settle down,” said Kent, as quoted in the Daily Record.
“Liverpool have been good to me but going back there each year and doing well in pre-season and then going back out on loan is a repetitive cycle.”
Steven Gerrard said Rangers’ offer involved getting Kent for another year. This suggests Rangers can only really afford to draft the winger back in on loan.
Kent has clearly enjoyed his time at Ibrox, but on this, he may well be conflicted. The youngster is very clear that he wants to settle somewhere.

If Rangers can’t put up the reported £12m to secure his signature full-time [Liverpool Echo], it might not suit Kent. Not that he isn’t open to
the “possibility” of joining Rangers.
Kent comments that Rangers is something “he’d consider” but he is “considering many things”.
It looks like Kent has a big choice to make. Even if it’s only one more year in Glasgow, it might be the best either party is going to get.
