Danny Rohl has been handed a boost regarding one of his Rangers players signing a new contract at the club.

The German will have to make a decision on the futures of a number of players in the coming weeks.

Five defenders are set to leave Rangers, with more exits likely in other areas, making it imperative for the manager to establish foundations for next season.

If he goes, who would be a good replacement for him?

Liam Kelly expected to sign new Rangers contract

Rangers Review’s Chris Jack expects Liam Kelly to sign a new contract and be the second choice for next season.

In his view, the Scottish keeper is a solid backup and is likely to commit his future to the Glasgow outfit.

Barry Ferguson expected Kelly to sign a new deal, and it looks like the former manager will be getting his wish soon.

With Pierce Charles a target for Rangers, it could mean that Jack Butland may be on his way out.

The Englishman has one more year left on his deal at Ibrox, and the club could decide that it will be time to cash in.

Jack told Rangers Review’s YouTube channel: “Come the summer, you keep on Liam.

“He’s a solid backup.

“I think he will sign a new contract.

“He’ll be a number two.”

How much are Rangers offering Kelly in terms of salary?

The Gers have been in contract talks with Kelly for the past few weeks, but there has been no official announcement yet.

It could be that the 30-year-old is holding out for more wages than are currently on offer by the Ibrox outfit.

The Scotland international is reportedly on £7k/week, as things stand, and could be looking for a slight increase on that.

Annually, he is making £364,000, and his new deal could take him closer to the £400,000 mark if an agreement can be reached.

Kelly has proven to be a more than reliable number two as he has jumped into action whenever called upon and has not sulked on the sidelines.

He has been the model professional that Rangers thought they were getting, and fans will be thrilled if he stays put.
