Conflicting reports surround the latest Rangers bid for Feyenoord striker Danilo as one journalist claims that a move for the Brazilian “will get done”.
Jordan Campbell of the Athletic believes that Rangers and Feyenoord are not too far apart when it comes to the 24-year-old striker after the Ibrox side put forward a €6m (£5m) package for the player.
The former Rangers correspondent for the Athletic believes that Rangers are “edging closer” to a move for Danilo after an initial bid worth up to €3.5m (£3m) was thrown out by the Eredivisie champions.
According to Campbell, sources close to the transfer believe that a deal “will get done” with Rangers now seemingly gearing up to close in on the striker.
The journalist also claims that Michael Beale is a “huge fan” of the South American, with the plan potentially to position the Brazilian next to £4.5m summer signing Cyriel Dessers, who has taken the number 9 jersey.
But just as Rangers fans were getting excited about talk of closing in on Danilo, murmurs in the Scottish tabloids are now suggesting that Feyenoord have rejected the club’s latest bid.
Reports of “rejected” Rangers Danilo bid is cheap
Following a report from Dutch outlet AD, who have been talking with the club’s CEO Dennis te Kloese about interest in both Danilo and Mexican forward Santiago Giménez, there’s been a suggestion in the Scottish press that Feyenoord have rejected Rangers’ latest bid for Danilo.
Whilst Michael Beale has admitted Rangers are not the only club in for Danilo, there is more interest, and a higher value, attributed to Gimenez.

In the report, Te Kloese claims he is “confident” that Gimenez will stay at the club but was more coy on the situation with Danilo, who is also viewed as a mentor to fellow Brazilian forward Igor Paixao in Rotterdam.
When pressing Te Kloese on Rangers’ interest, and the bid of £5m, the director rhetorically answered “no is also an answer isn’t it?”
The report then goes on to suggest that the Ibrox side’s current offer will not be enough to tempt Feyenoord into selling, with only “serious offers” to be considered.
There’s nothing here which definitively says a move is off the table, or that the Rangers bid has been rejected outright, so all the coverage is a little confusing.
Brazilian interest appears live as Gers wait on decision
Whilst it makes for a good headline, we can’t see anyone saying that Rangers’ bid for Danilo has been “rejected” anywhere other than in the Scottish press and all this conflicting coverage has Gers fans left scratching their heads.
The way we see it, Rangers have tabled an offer and have made their interest in the player known, with the suggestion being that Danilo wants to move to Ibrox.
But Feyenoord appear to still be mulling over Rangers’ bid for Danilo with the club potentially looking to the likes of Club Brugge striker Ayase Ueda to replace him.

The deal is almost certainly still up in the air, but for all intents and purposes all the reporting suggests Rangers are still very much interested and that Feyenoord are still very much open to a sale.
The clubs do not appear to be too far apart in their negotiations and whilst Rangers might have to cough up a little more to complete a move, the suggestion a bid has been thrown out appears well wide of the mark.
As Rangers wait on a definitive answer on their latest bid, Danilo made 48 appearances for Feyenoord last season, scoring 14 goals and laying on four assists.
