The transfer window isn’t even open yet and transfer talk surrounding Alfredo Morelos has already begun.
The Colombian is in superb form at Ibrox and his 28 goals so far this season will naturally attract interest.
The striker even told Colombian radio station Caracol “most likely my transfer will be this Summer.” But has Steven Gerrard just hinted it’s not time to start worrying about the striker leaving yet?

Steven Gerrard told Sky Sports, as quoted by The Daily Record, “I’ve been clear on my thoughts about Alfredo. We want him to stay here for as long as possible.
“But I understand how people work and the reality is we haven’t had any offers at the moment. He’s a Rangers player and we look forward to Aberdeen.”
Steven Gerrard key player in Morelos transfer battle
If anyone can convince Morelos to stay for one more year, it’s Steven Gerrard. And not just because of the Liverpool legend’s footballing influence.
But also because he’s done it before. In that same Caracol interview, Morelos revealed that Gerrard convinced him to stay in January.

Alfredo said: “In winter there were many proposals, from Italy, Spain, France and England, but the coach (Steven Gerard) told me that he wanted me here, so I stayed.
“I stayed because he asked me, my idea is to continue growing as a player. He tells me to be very patient, that everything will arrive in due course.”
If you ask me there’s absolutely nothing set in stone. Even if Football Scotland reported the likes of Real Betis are watching the Colombian forward.
Morelos could yet be convinced to stay at Ibrox for another year. And if anyone can do it, it’s Steven Gerrard.
