Rangers fans don’t have much to cheer about this season and it is easy to look across the border to see how those who used to wear the Light Blue shirt for a bit of respite.
The doom and gloom around Ibrox lifted for all of 45 minutes in a Barry Ferguson inspired comeback against Kilmarnock, but what appears to be the norm resumed against Motherwell.
Defensive mistakes only made matters worse with one former Rangers player showing exactly what is currently being missed.

Calvin Bassey takes to social media after Fulham beat Man Utd
After a 1-1 draw, Fulham edged past Man Utd on penalties with Calvin Bassey following up his first goal of the season only a matter of weeks ago with another to open the scoring.
Posting on X, the defensive powerhouse couldn’t help but have a less than subtle dig with a creative play on words:
“Theatre of dreams.”
He also wasn’t happy about not getting man of the match after the official FA Cup account praised his efforts, “No man of the match,” Bassey questioned.
Not only did Bassey get the key goal, the 25-year old was a rock in the heart of the Fulham defence.
The sort of rock that the current Rangers squad has badly missed.
Have Rangers ever replaced Bassey?
It’s bewildering to try and understand how Rangers went from someone as athletic and aggressive as Bassey, to Ben Davies and then Robin Propper.
Each replacement has been weaker than their predecessor when it came to dealing with SPFL opposition.
It is the same situation with Leon Balogun, the template is there in terms of what type of player Rangers should be looking for.
Clinton Nsiala has been promising, but he shouldn’t have been expected to play every game, after all, the 21-year old has only played nine times as a senior professional footballer – all at Rangers.
Bassey made similar mistakes as Nsiala when Steven Gerrard first gave him his chance, he was taken out of the team, given a chance to improve, and became a £20m Premier League defender.
