BBC pundit scoffs at Danny Rohl question and says what Rangers fans have been thinking all week

A BBC pundit has delivered a damning verdict on Danny Rohl and his future as the Rangers manager going into next season.

The Light Blues earned a 5-2 victory over Falkirk in their final game of the season on Saturday, but that was not enough to paper over the glaring cracks that have appeared in recent weeks.

Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe were seen interacting with the travelling Rangers supporters at the away end, as Rohl and Co. avoided further embarrassment.

While it is unclear what was discussed during the interaction, it would be a surprise if Rohl‘s future is not under review.

Ryan Stevenson makes blunt Rohl verdict live on air

Rohl claimed last week that he has no concerns over his future as the Rangers manager after speaking to Cavenagh.

However, there is an increasing feeling that the German tactician might not be out of the woods just yet, despite his own stance.

Ryan Stevenson is the latest pundit to urge the Glaswegian outfit to pull the plug on Rohl after what has transpired in the last three weeks.

Asked if the former Sheffield Wednesday boss is the right man to lead the Govan club forward, the former scoffed at the suggestion.

In his view, there is no way Rohl survives the axe after losing four of the five post-split fixtures and the way he dealt with James Tavernier during the captain’s final Ibrox appearance.

Speaking on BBC Sportscene, he said: “No, I don’t think [so]. Listen, I think Rangers finishing third, straightaway, you’re under pressure. I think the money they’ve spent, he should be under pressure.

“The Tavernier situation during the week. Going into the split, he’s failed tactically. So, it would be the right call if they did part company.”

Rangers must sack Rohl now to avoid repeating same mistakes

At 37, Rohl is young and appears to have a promising managerial career ahead of him.

At Wednesday and Rangers, he has displayed that he is tactically sound, much like the other up-and-coming managers in Germany.

However, if it was not already evident, the last few weeks have demonstrated that helming a club of Rangers’ size and stature requires much more than just tactical acumen.

It requires an ability to rally players and fans all the same, and Rohl has evidently fallen short in that department.

This is why there is a growing sentiment among the Rangers faithful that he must be sacked before it is too late.

If Cavenagh and Co. stick with Rohl, they risk repeating the same old mistakes and having to find a replacement for him in October or November.
