Interim Rangers manager Barry Ferguson has hinted that an announcement over his future is close at Ibrox.
Rangers legend Barry Ferguson was addressing the press ahead of the Scottish Premiership clash with Dundee United, which could be the 47-year-old’s final match as manager at Ibrox.
Ferguson wouldn’t be drawn on Rangers links to Real Madrid assistant Davide Ancelotti, but the Rangers manager insists that there will be some clarity over the managerial position within the next week.
At the same time, Ferguson has refused to rule himself out of the Rangers running and insists that he is ready if he is to be offered the opportunity.

Barry Ferguson expects Rangers manager update in ‘the next few days’
”There’s always going to be speculation,” Ferguson said. “In terms of the update on myself, that is going to remain private.
”I am sure you’ll see over the course of the next few days, hopefully there’s going to be a bit of movement.
”Because I’ve mentioned a number of times it has to get moving in terms of who is going to be the manager, because we’ve got pre-season coming up, players out of contract, players coming back on loan etc, etc, etc.
”So hopefully in the next few days we’ll be clear on what’s going to be happening.“
Later Ferguson added: “I said I couple of weeks ago I had a conversation. Have I had a conversation since? Look, I’d rather keep that private.
“But I am sure as I’ve said, over the coming days or certainly the next week, I’m sure you’ll see something move forward.”
When asked if he expects this to be his last game at Ibrox, Ferguson answered: “You never know. What I need to do is I need to remain as professional as possible. That’s what I’ll always do.
”There’s not been any conversation over what’s happening with myself. What I do know is things are starting to move and over the coming days or weeks we’ll be really clear on what way the club is going to be moving forward.”
Barry Ferguson responds to Davide Ancelotti links
Barry Ferguson might be holding out for the shout to become the next Rangers manager but the odds are now stacked against the Ibrox legend.
The favourite to take the Rangers job is now Davide Ancelotti, the son and assistant of Brazil-bound legendary Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti.
Ferguson was pressed on the situation with Ancelotti and, whilst giving a glowing commendation of the coach’s father, admits he is not bothered by speculation.
”I don’t know anything about him, if I’m being honest,” Ferguson said. “I know he’s an assistant to his dad and what I know is his dad is one of the best managers.
”Look, there’s always going to be speculation. There’s been speculation since I’ve come in. I’ve no issue with that. That’s just the way it operates in the West of Scotland.”
