Davide Ancelotti is the latest name being linked to the Rangers manager’s job after months of speculation surrounding the position.
Reports in Spain have suggested that Davide Ancelotti is ‘close’ to the Rangers job after dad Carlo, who the 35-year-old works under at Real Madrid, agreed to join Brazil at the end of the season.
With Xabi Alonso set to replace the legendary Italian manager, Rangers are favourites to sign the in-demand Davide Ancelotti as he prepares to take his first step into management.
But the Spanish reports have suggested that the deal could hit a potential snag if Bayer Leverkusen target Cesc Fabregas to replace Alonso in Germany, with Ancelotti wanted to replace Fabregas at Serie A side Como.
Now, BBC Sport have been providing an update on the situation and suggest everything is not quite as it appears at Ibrox.

Davide Ancelotti to Rangers reports cooled
According to BBC Sport, there is ‘no leading candidate’ to take charge at Rangers as things currently stand.
The report claims that suggestions Rangers have trained their sights on Davide Ancelotti are wide of the mark with the Ibrox club exploring a range of different possibilities.
Journalist Chris McLaughlin then goes on to claim that Rangers remain in the ‘early stages’ of the recruitment process adding that suggestions of a leading candidate are ‘inaccurate’.
The claims have been echoed by several other reports, with Chris Jack of the Rangers Review also pulling the brake on the Davide Ancelotti reports.
However, the journalist does expect the recruitment process to be complete within the next four weeks.
Sky Sports name six Rangers manager targets
Sky Sports have also been discussing the managerial hunt at Rangers and have listed no fewer than six potential options to replace Philippe Clement on a permanent basis.
With Barry Ferguson in interim charge of Rangers, it is now widely expected that the legendary former Ibrox midfielder will move on come the end of the campaign.
In the meantime there are several names being discussed with Sky Sports listing Davide Ancelotti amongst the six names on the Ibrox club’s shortlist.
The broadcaster also lists ex-Luton Town manager Rob Edwards as an option, the Welshman having worked with incoming sporting director Kevin Thelwell at Wolves.
Former Southampton boss and Rangers centre-back Russell Martin has also been ‘sounded out’ over the gig.
Former Rangers manager Steven Gerrard gets a mention, whilst the other two names being discussed are ex-Wolves boss Gary O’Neil and Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl.
