Rangers star Alfredo Morelos has scored 30 goals this season in all competitions. But it’s his 18 goals in the league which will bring him a golden boot.
The Scottish Premiership’s Tartan Ball, as it is now called, will be awarded to the Colombian. It’s a just reward for what’s been an emphatic goalscoring season.
But in picking it up, Morelos becomes the first Gers player to win the award since 2011. Kenny Miller was the man who collected the top goalscorer gong that year.

Miller won the award in 2011 after banging in 21 strikes for the Ibrox side. It’s a feat made even more impressive by the fact Miller moved to Bursaspor in the winter transfer window that season.
Miller would of course return to Ibrox a few years later, but he was never as prolific as he was that campaign.
It’s incredible that it’s taken eight years before someone picks up the award for Rangers. But Alfredo Morelos is a worthy winner.
The Colombian’s goals have been vital to much of Rangers success this season. They have naturally attracted interest around the continent. And plenty of talk over his future [Scottish Sun].

But are Rangers fans being too quick to assume the striker won’t be here next season?
