So many names have been put forward as the potential next permanent Rangers manager.
The nature of the temporary appointment of Barry Ferguson means that will continue to be the case.
The Ibrox legend and former captain is in situ until the end of the season and it seems highly unlikely he will remain beyond that, barring an exceptional set of circumstances.
So Gers will be looking for their next boss in the meantime and Steven Gerrard has reportedly already held talks and has been strongly linked in the media.
Sean Dyche is another who club chiefs have spoken too while Ally McCoist named his preferred three candidates – Gerrard, Kevin Muscat and Derek McInnes.
Alan Hutton has been quizzed on all the names doing the rounds and admits one stands above the rest.

Steven Gerrard stands out from Rangers crowd
And that name is Gerrard.
While not completely pinning his colours to the mast in terms of the title 55-winning boss, Hutton reckons he stands out when put up against all the other names banded about.
Asked if Gerrard would be realistic, he told the Premier Sports Social Club show: “Well, he’s out of work isn’t he? So that’s the short answer.
“But I don’t know. Going back, is it going to be the right thing? I mean, he did well when he was here last time.”
Hutton was then asked ‘could it work?’, replying: “I hope so. I don’t see why not. I think it could work.”
Pushed again on whether Gerrard’s name stands out from the rest, he added: “Yeah, I think so. I think there’s some good news in there. Russell Martin, I know how he likes to play football.
“I don’t know, it’s hard, but Gerrard knows what it’s all about. He’s won the league.”
Why Gerrard didn’t complete Rangers return now
It has been reported that Rangers couldn’t meet Gerrard’s demands ‘at this time’.
Reuters journalist Luca Chianti had claimed Gers chiefs were in discussions with their former boss and Dyche, before adding they faced a hurdle to get the ‘required financial package’ over the line.
Chianti later made the updated claim about the out-of-reach demands.
