£85m-rated Rangers foe recognised with special domestic award

Familiar Rangers foe and RB Leipzig striker Christopher Nkunku has been named the Bundesliga Player of the Season.

The creative forward has had a hugely impressive season with the German outfit and is now one of the most highly-sought after players in European football.

Domestically, Christopher Nkunku has had an explosive campaign in Germany, netting 20 goals and laying on 15 assists in 34 games this season.

In Europe the figures are just as impressive as the French international forward netted seven goals in six Champions League games and four in six in the Europa League.

One of these even came at Ibrox as Christopher Nkunku hauled RB Leipzig back into the match against Rangers and nerves jittered around the stadium.

But despite pulling the score line back to 2-2 on aggregate, John Lundstram would step up and the rest is history.

The striker also missed a glorious opportunity to put RB Leipzig ahead in the first leg and it’s something that might possibly rankle with the forward.

Only 24, Rangers fans got a glimpse of one of European football’s brightest talents and Nkunku will now look ahead to what promises to be an interesting summer.

The Bundesliga Player of the Season has been extensively linked to the likes of Man United, with Liverpool and even former side PSG also mentioned.

According to reports in Germany, RB Leipzig don’t want to sell with any interested suitors needing to fork out £85m to bring Christopher Nkunku to their club.
